Listen up, recruits! It’s July, which means Flush Smart Month is officially back, and we are on a mission to whip America’s bathroom habits into pristine, pipe-friendly shape.
This year, we’re going beyond saving your plumbing from a clog-tastrophe — we’re saving your relationships, too.
Bad Bathroom Habits = Breakups?
Flushing the wrong things down the toilet damages municipal sewers and home plumbing, but did you know that bad bathroom habits cause serious contention in relationships, too? We dove in with our own research to find out some of the worst offenses.
A survey we commissioned through Drive Research of over 1,300 Americans uncovered these culprits
- 🧻 The Paper Trail (38.9%): Failing to replace the toilet paper roll. (Seriously, it takes three seconds!)
- 💇♂️ The Hair Monster (35.3%): Leaving a bird’s nest of hair behind in the sink or shower. (Major clog potential.)
- 🚽 The Forbidden Flush (13.9%): Flushing non-flushable items down the porcelain throne. (Protect those pipes!)
And speaking of forbidden flushes, there’s still some major confusion out there about what should go down the drain. If it’s not human waste, a wipe clearly labeled as “flushable,” or toilet paper — put it in the trash, never the toilet!
Welcome to Bathroom Bootycamp
To cure these bad behaviors and restore domestic bliss across the nation, we are officially launching Bathroom Bootycamp. We’ve designed a 7-day challenge to help sharpen bathroom etiquette skills, and we’re partnering with an elite squad of creators on Instagram and TikTok to highlight the high-energy, hilarious challenges designed to get your household into shape. Follow the #FlushSmart hashtag to check them out!
Fall Out, Flush Smart!
Your toilet is not a trash can, and your housemates are not your maids. This July, let’s protect our pipes, safeguard our local water ecosystems, and keep our relationships intact.
Make sure to look for the Do Not Flush symbol on wipes packaging before you toss anything in the bowl. And remember: If it’s not human waste, a wipe clearly labeled as flushable, or toilet paper, it should NEVER go down the drain.
Follow the movement all month long by tracking the hashtag #FlushSmart and following @FlushSmart on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X.
Dismissed! Now go check your toilet paper roll.
